Biographie
Yuliya Glebova is a professional musician, cymbalist, singer, songwriter, poetry writer, initiator of introducing cymbals into a rock group and creator of the first such group.
Motto: "The ideal is unattainable, but the eternal striving for it is the meaning of human life."
Graduated from "Minsk State Musical College name after Michail Glinka" and "The Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts", specializing in folk instrumental music (on cymbals) and pop vocal.
In search of her own path in the musical world, she tried herself as a member of very diverse groups: the rock and roll group "Meteor", folklore ensembles "Valachobniki", "Perazvony", the female vocal group "Flowers", vocal and instrumental trio "Resonance".
The performance and original arrangement for cymbals of popular instrumental compositions, as well as her own compositions, is to this day an important part of Yuliya Glebova's creative activity (you can learn more about the instrumental project here - http://cimbal.yuliyaglebova.com/HomeRu ).
She writes poems and songs from school, but 2005-2006 was the starting point for a new direction in her creative biography.
From that time on, composing and performing their own songs began to dominate over other types of creative activity. A period of hard work began: the creation and recording of songs, performances in clubs, at holidays, corporate events, participation in competitions and festivals.
The first songs in style were closer to the bard song, instrumented for an acoustic ensemble.
Over time, musical preferences have tended towards more "electric" music. In 2006, Yuliya Glebova with a group of musicians presented the first pop-rock song with cymbals at one of the "apartment" concerts. This experiment received mixed reviews - from delight to bewilderment.
For some period, experiments with cymbals were suspended, but only in order to rethink their role and methods of performance in such a group.
From 2007 to 2011 members of the group changed periodically, often at the performances some of the participants were replaced by session musicians.
The arrangements of the songs of the first album were created with the participation of professional arrangers, among whom were Anton Gankov, Gleb Zhelezny, Andrey Zhukov.
By January 2011 (when all the songs for the debut album were created) a team was formed that was seriously interested in joint creativity, performances, and promotion.
The musical direction of the group is rock, pop-rock, bard-rock. The participation of cymbals in the composition remains. Someone defines the style of some songs as intellectual rock.
Expressive melodies, carefully thought out instrumental parts emphasize the philosophical meaning of the lyrics, which give food for thought. Sincerity is their trump card. Without belittling the importance of the entertainment function of musical art, musicians are sure that there are people who are looking for a component in music called content. It is for this category that the work of Yuliya Glebova and the "Chas Speak" group is intended.
The songs of Yuliya Glebova took part more than once and were noted in various song competitions:
The song "Hey, Look Back" (English version) is the only song of the Belarusian author that made it to the final of the author's competition "Eurofest-2012".
In 2012 - the song "To the End of the World" in the final of the "Sing with Peter FM" competition.
In April 2013 the song "Freely" became the "Best Song of the Month" on the Ultra-music.com website.
The cover version of the song "Narodzhennya Day" by the well-known Ukrainian group "Vopli Vidoplyasova", presented for the "People's Tribute VV" contest, was highly appreciated by the band's leader Oleg Skrypka. The consequence of this was the participation of Yuliya in the Minsk concert of the group on December 14, 2011 at the Palace of the Republic.
In April 2012, the Belarusian company "Vigma" released the debut album "Neformat". Work on it has been going on for almost 5 years.
For a long period of creation "Neformat" has made
its way to its own listener. The songs of Yuliya Glebova won the hearts of a certain number of admirers, some of them ("Spring", "Barcelona", "Don't Leave", "To the End of the World", "I'm Sick") were actively rotated and rotated by Belarusian and Russian radio stations. The song "My City" was also included in several Russian compilation CDs, incl. "Hits of the Outgoing Summer", "Hits of Russian Radio".
The video for the song "Don't leave", which is present on the debut disc, filmed in the mountains of Crimea, got into the rotation of Belarusian television channels (ONT, "Belarus 1", STV, VTV and many others), as well as the channel "Strana TV" (Russia). In 2013, the video became a nominee for the "National Award" of the "Strana" TV channel.
The rotation of songs by radio stations with the active use of cymbals in arrangements ("Spring", "I'm Sick") inspires Yuliya Glebova to more actively "introduce" them when creating the next songs.
In 2012-2013, the group actively performs concerts (acoustic and electric) in various cities of Belarus, as well as in St. Petersburg.
In May 2013, in the Minsk club "Re: Public", a big solo concert entitled "White Crow" was held, where many new songs were performed in "acoustics" and "electrics". Right at the concert, the shooting of a new video for the band's iconic song "Not in vain" began.
Shooting of the video "Not in vain" continued in July 2013, and then in September. In 2014, this most budgetary and time-consuming of the team's video works was released. The video received a significant amount of views on social media including Youtube. The video "No wonder" was awarded the Diploma "For artistic merit" of the International Film Forum "Russian Elementary Cinema" in Kiev (October 2014). Was taken into rotation by the TV channels "MuzTV" (Russia), "RuTV", "BelMuzTV" (where it was in the chart for a long time), "A-one" (Ukraine) and many others.
In March 2015, a new clip of the group - "Vesna" was released - a positive life-affirming video, in which both staged scenes and documentary footage of the "spring life" of Minsk residents, as well as a fair amount of humor, are presented. The clip was taken into rotation by the TV channels "BelMuzTV", "Belarus 1", STV and others.
During their performances, Glebova and "Chas Speak" also surprise the audience with the performance of classical pieces in rock processing with solo electric cymbals and a guitar!
Yuliya Glebova and the team became participants and prize-winners of a number of festivals and competitions, both in Belarus and abroad: "Musical Sparring-2", Minsk, 3rd place, "Swing" festival, Samara (Audience Award) , "Sing with "Peter FM" (finalists), "Vopley Vidoplyasov Tribute" (winners), "Living Sky Braslav 2014", "Ambasovishcha 2014", "X-Star 2015 "(final), "Open Windows 2015" (final), "MotoMaloyaroslavets 2015" (winners of the Belarusian selection), "RokoMotoPiknik 2015". They gave solo concerts with an acoustic and electric program in Minsk, regional centers of Belarus, in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
2015-2016 were not the easiest years in the life of Yuliya Glebova and her team. Constant physical and mental overload associated with the need to combine the functions of a sponsor, director, PR manager, songwriter and vocalist of the "Glebova and "Chas Speak" project led to nervous breakdowns and the appearance of depressive symptoms in Yuliya. Due to family and household difficulties, her deteriorating health condition, Yuliya decides to suspend concert and festival activities, limiting herself only to individual performances in her hometown, and devotes all her strength to instrumental projects, as well as recording a second song album.
On March 1, 2017, the album "Wings" was presented on the World Wide Web. The presentation, manner and style of Yuliya Glebova's songs change significantly. Cymbals, on the other hand, occupy a firm place in the arrangements of more than half of the songs. In the first months after its release, the album received a large number of positive reviews, including from music journalists.
At the end of April, a concert presentation of the album "Wings" took place in Minsk. It was also decided to release the album on a physical media.
Minsk artist Lolita Gorbacheva developed the design of the disc packaging (six-band digipack) based on the author's drawings that embody the main ideas of the album. By the time of the presentation concert, the musicians already had a small amount of CDs.
The group gave several concerts in support of the album, and also released a video for the song "Prabach" from it.
The band also resumed performances at festivals. The musicians finally managed to make themselves known, including in Europe (Germany), and perform there not only with instrumental works, but also with songs.
From 2017 to 2019 the group took part in the following festivals: Festival of Cultures 2017 (Berlin), "Song of the Year of Belarus 2017", "Operaplatzfest 2017" (Frankfurt am Main), "Tolwood 2018" (Munich), "Festival of Cultures 2018" (Berlin), "Festival Opernplatzfest 2018" (Frankfurt), "LidBeer 2018" (Lida), "Tolwoodfest winter 2018" (Munich), "Opernplatzfest-2019" (Frankfurt). Also during this period Glebova and "Chas Speak" actively give acoustic and full-length concerts in Belarus. New songs are being written.
In May 2019, the group gives a big solo concert in Minsk at the "Re: Public" club, where it presents a new song "Lepshy Zen", a new video for the instrumental composition "Thunderstorm" by Vivaldi (in team's own processing), and also presents a song block to its viewers performed by an expanded lineup of musicians! In the second part of the concert, a brass trio (trumpet, trombone, saxophone) joins the main cast, as well as, at the very end, children (two cymbalist girls). Thus, the last songs sound almost an orchestral composition!
The band liked the sound of the extended line-up. And the musicians decided to record several songs with the participation of wind instruments. In particular, the songs "Lepshy Zen", "Barcelona", "To the End of the World".
In 2017-2019, the group also has a tradition of holding acoustic concerts in the old atmosphere of the Minsk "House-Museum of the Vankovichs", sharing with listeners new songs (which have not yet had time to have a full-length arrangement), poems, instrumental compositions in a chamber format and simply communicate in relaxed atmosphere.
In parallel, Yuliya Glebova is working on instrumental projects. As a cymbalist, she performs solo and with other musicians, and toured Europe.
From 2014 to 2019, Yuliya records and publishes four solo instrumental CDs: "Popular classics performed on cymbals", "Baroque music performed on cymbals", "Romantic Breeze" (romantic melodies performed on cymbals), as well as "Christmas melodies performed on cymbals". 2020, a difficult year for musicians around the world due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the "Chas Speak" group dedicated to the creation and recording of their third album. The group decided to include only instrumental compositions in it - popular classics, as well as popular pop and rock hits in the author's rock version.
The group met 2021 with the hope of resuming live activities and plans to release an instrumental album and record several new songs!
